Tata Sierra background in India
The original Tata Sierra was India's first indigenously developed off-road SUV, launched in 1991. It was known for its distinctive 3-door body style and large panoramic glass area at the rear.
It was based on the Tata Telcoline pick-up truck's platform and powered by a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated diesel engine.
The 1st gen Tata Sierra was produced from 1991 to 2003. The new Sierra aims to revive this iconic nameplate, blending its classic appeal with modern design language and advanced technology.
Upcoming Tata Sierra EV highlights
The Sierra EV concept showcased a contemporary design that retains the essence of the original Sierra, particularly its upright stance and boxy silhouette. The floating roof effect pays homage to the original one.
The upcoming Sierra's interior will have a sophisticated 3-screen setup, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front and rear seats, dual-zone climate control, and a premium sound system.
This mid-size SUV is likely to feature Level 2 ADAS with other advanced safety features like ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
The Sierra EV is expected to be based on Tata's acti.ev platform and come with 2 battery pack options. Its color options are not confirmed, but we have seen Stardust Ash, Mojave Gold, and Granite Grey in concepts.
Upcoming Tata Sierra ICE highlights
The ICE version looks largely the same as the EV one. This Sierra is going to be available in 2 engine options:
Confirmed: New 1.5-liter T-GDi (Turbo Gasoline Direct Injection) turbo-petrol engine
Expected: 2.0-liter Kryotec diesel engine (similar to the one in Harrier and Safari)
