About Hyundai

Hyundai in India is a fully owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company and is the second largest automobile manufacturer in the country. It began its journey in India in the year 1996, at the time when there were only five major automobile manufacturers in the country: Maruti, Hindustan, Tata, Mahindra and Premier. Hyundai followed footsteps of international automobile giants – Ford and Honda as they aim to establish themselves in a huge market.

At the time when Hyundai entered, and even a decade after their entrance, Maruti Suzuki single-handedly dominated the car segment as Tata Motors and Mahindra were purely focused on the production of utility and commercial vehicles. Hyundai in recent times has become the most preferred international brand by Indians. In such a short time, it has pinned a legacy in the uber-developing country. It has some of the best cars in the country including Hyundai i10, i20, Verna, Tucson, Creta, Elantra, and so on. These new Hyundai car models have transformed the legacy of the Korean manufacturer. It boasts a gigantic portfolio of cars which can be seen throughout the streets.

Let us understand about the Hyundai cars in India based upon the segments:

Entry-level segment: In the entry-level segment, Hyundai has Hyundai Eon which is one of the most popular entry-level hatchbacks in the country. It competes with Renault Kwid, Maruti Alto K10 and Datsun Redi Go. Hyundai cars price range is between INR 3.3 Lakh to INR 27 Lakh based upon the various models. Hyundai Eon starts at INR 3.3 Lakh and goes all the way up to 4.4 Lakh.

Hatchback: A segment where Hyundai competes at the highest level. It has some of the finest cars in this segment with active cars such as Hyundai i10, Hyundai i20, Hyundai Grand i10, Hyundai Elite i20. These cars are some of the most beloved Hyundai cars in India.

Sedan: A segment where Hyundai actively competes with Honda and Maruti Suzuki. Hyundai’s Verna and Elantra compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Honda City and Volkswagen Vento to name a few. Hyundai cars price in this segment lies between the ranges of INR 8 Lakh to 16 Lakh.

Crossovers: The launch of Elite i20 helped the Korean manufacturer to enter into the crossover segment. It is one of the hottest car segments in the country right now with a variety of manufacturers introducing their version of crossovers. Under this segment, the competitive price range lies between INR 7 Lakh to INR 10.5 Lakh. However, you must expect an increased price tag due to the crazy demand and the GST effect.

SUVs: One of the fiercest segment in the country has two SUVs models – Creta and Tucson. The competition is quite tough between Honda, Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki in this segment. SUV car range starts from INR 11 Lakh to 20 Lakh based upon the model and variant.
