Tata Motors has announced a lifetime warranty for their Tata Curvv EV and Nexon EV 45 kWh variants. This is an industry-first move from Tata Motors, which demonstrates their confidence in their EV technology and a strong commitment to customer peace of mind.
Who can claim the Tata Curvv EV and Nexon EV lifetime warranty?
Tata Motors has announced that the lifetime warranty is specifically for the 45 kWh battery pack variants of both the Nexon EV and Curvv EV. The Nexon EV also has a smaller 30 kWh variant, and the Curvv EV also has a larger 55 kWh variant. This warranty offer will benefit:
- New Buyers (45 kWh variants only): This offer is primarily for new customers purchasing these specific EV models.
- Existing Owners of the Tata Curvv EV and Nexon EV (45 kWh variants only): This is a fantastic retroactive benefit that allows current owners to also enjoy the extended warranty.
- Owners whose vehicles are registered in the name of private individuals: This is a key condition. The warranty is primarily for personal use vehicles.

Conditions of the Tata Curvv EV and Nexon EV lifetime warranty
The "lifetime" in this warranty offer refers to a period of 15 years from the first date of registration of the vehicle at the local RTO office. This is a crucial clarification. These specific conditions must be met to claim this lifetime warranty:
Vehicle must be serviced at authorized TATA.ev service stations: These services and repairs must adhere to the maintenance schedule recommended by Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited.
Registration in a private individual's name: This suggests that commercial fleet operations might not be eligible.
No transfer to third party (for lifetime benefit): If the vehicle is transferred or sold to any third party (i.e., a second owner onwards), the warranty terms change. The warranty reverts to a standard 8 years or 1,60,000 km for the second registration onwards. Owners must inform Tata Motors about the ownership transfer, or the battery warranty will not be offered.
Active & uninterrupted IRA.ev connection: The vehicle must maintain an active and uninterrupted connection to the IRA.ev (Tata's connected car platform) throughout the entire ownership period.
Battery condition: The high-voltage (HV) battery must be free from any physical damage or tampering. In case of replacement/repair during the warranty, TATA.ev will ensure the energy capacity of the HV battery is brought to a value equal to the steady-state SOH (State of Health) before replacement or at 80%, whichever is higher.
