  • Upcoming MG Windsor PRO Revealed Before the May 6 Launch

MG Motor India has officially teased the MG Windsor PRO with the tagline "Pro Features, Pro Range, Pro Safety, Pro Interiors, Pro Style, Pro Battery." The CUV is launching on 6th May after the success of MG Windsor in India.

Estimates suggest a price range of Rs. 16 to 18 lacs (ex-showroom) for the Pro variant. This price range has rivals such as the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, Mahindra XEV 9e, BYD Atto 3, Mahindra XUV400 EV (EL Pro Long Range), and MG ZS EV.

MG Windsor became the fastest-selling EV model in India by crossing the 20,000 unit sales mark within just six months of its launch. It has several unique rider-friendly features that differentiate this car while being cost-effective.

MG Windsor PRO expected features and specifications

The most significant upgrade in the new Windsor is a larger 50.6 kWh battery pack, which is a big step up from the current 38 kWh. This is the same battery used in the Wuling Cloud EV (the Windsor's global counterpart).

The new CUV is expected to offer a 460 km (CLTC) range on a single charge. It also comes with the Level 2 ADAS features.

It will also have the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability to charge external devices like a laptop and other small appliances. The new Windsor is also going to feature a new alloy wheel design, updated interior, powered tailgate, DC faster charging, and PRO badging.

The power and torque, 134 bhp and 200 Nm, respectively, are also expected to stay the same, along with many other characteristics.

MG Windsor success factors

The introductory pricing with the innovative "Battery as a Service" (BaaS) model made this EV more accessible. The base variant offers a compelling package of features, interior space, and a decent range at its price point.

It has a very roomy cabin and a large boot space (604 liters). Other features, such as, Largest-in-Segment 15.6-inch infotainment system and Aero-Lounge rear seats with 135-degree recline, are also great USPs.

The BaaS model also makes this EV a great buy. This model involves purchasing the EV without owning the battery, as the car owners can subscribe to a battery rental or usage plan.
