Tata Motors has launched the new Tiago and Tigor CNG AMT variants in the Indian market. Bookings for the CNG AMT variants are currently open for a token amount of INR 21,000. The Tiago iCNG is being offered in three variants: XZA+ CNG, XTA CNG, and XZA NRG, while the Tigor iCNG AMT comes in two variants: XZA CNG and XZA+ CNG. Tata has now become the first company in the county to have CNG AT cars on the market. In the automotive industry, demand for CNG vehicles is slowly increasing as CNG is more accessible than earlier. The CNG variants of Tiago and Tigor have witnessed a surge of 67.9 percent in fiscal year 2024 as compared to last year. The new AMT trims are likely to increase sales for the company even more.

The automaker has unveiled the Tiago and Tigor CNG AMT cars with the same powertrains. The new variants are powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine that churns out 86 bhp and 113 Nm. In the CNG variant, the unit produces 73 bhp and 95 Nm. The gearboxes on duty are a five-speed manual unit and a five-speed AMT. The performance of the new cars remains the same.

The Chief Commercial Officer at Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., Mr. Amit Kamat, said, “CNG, known for its widespread availability and accessibility, has garnered considerable acceptance over the years. Tata Motors has revolutionized the CNG segment with various industry firsts like twin-cylinder technology (helping provide no compromise boot space), high-end feature choices, and direct start in CNG. In the past 24 months, we have sold more than 1.3 lakh CNG vehicles. In our effort to further drive volumes and provide our customers with the best, we are now proudly launching the Tiago and the Tigor iCNG in AMT—Introducing India to its 1st AMT CNG Cars."

The auto giant has also revised the color schemes of the Tiago and Tigor ranges. The petrol-powered Tiago gets a new Tornado Blue color scheme, while the Tiago NRG comes in a Grassland Beige color. The regular Tigor model now has a Meteor Bronze paint scheme.

The new Tiago and Tigor CNG AMT come loaded with features like 14-inch wheels, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, an eight-speaker Harman audio system, automatic climate control, a digital instrument cluster, and electronically foldable and adjustable wing mirrors. Additionally, the Tigor CNG car comes equipped with automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers.
