MG Motor has finally launched the most-awaited Hector Blackstorm Edition in the Indian market. The Blackstorm edition is available at an introductory price of INR 21.24 lakh, and it goes up to INR 22.75 lakh (ex-showroom). The new edition of MG’s flagship SUV Hector is being offered in 5, 6, and 7-seat configurations. It is based on the Sharp Pro variant of the MG Hector.

The Hector Blackstorm edition has now become the most expensive trim of the brand’s best-selling SUV in India. The new Hector Blackstorm is MG Motor’s third special edition in the Indian market. The company had previously launched the Black Storm editions of the Gloster and Astor models. The all-black version comes with a range of cosmetic updates.

Commenting on the launch, the Chief Commercial Officer at MG Motor India, Satinder Singh Bajwa, said, “The MG Hector has enjoyed popularity among Indian SUV enthusiasts since its launch in 2019. Today marks yet another significant milestone for us as we introduce the Blackstorm edition of the Hector. At MG, we are driven by a rich heritage and a steadfast commitment to our customers’ satisfaction.”

Inside the cabin, the Hector Blackstorm has been upgraded with an all-black theme. The SUV’s black-themed interior is bejeweled by gunmetal accents. The centre console and the dashboard of the car get gun grey metal treatment, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and all-black leather upholstery.

The new SUV comes with a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, which is the biggest in the SUV segment. The car comes loaded with features like a panoramic sunroof, a 7.0-inch digital driver display, a powered driver seat, and seat ventilation. In terms of safety features, the all-black edition houses features like a 360-degree camera, ADAS technology, an auto-turn indicator, and six airbags.

The MG Hector Blackstorm’s all-black exterior is accentuated by red highlights, which make it look sportier. In place of the chrome highlights, the SUV gets dark chrome brand logos. It features a dark chrome Argyle-based diamond mesh front grille, a dark chrome tailgate, dark chrome inserts on the skid plates, and dark chrome finished cladding. The Hector Blackstorm comes with connected taillights that have a smoked effect and new headlight units with black bezels. The edition also has black-finished roof rails and doors.

The exterior of the car is finished in the Starry Black body color, which is also visible in other Blackstorm editions launched by the carmaker. The ORVMs and headlight casing now have red accents. The car gets 18-inch alloy wheels and red brake calipers.

Under the hood, the Hector Blackstorm is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel unit and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit. The petrol engine generates power of 142 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a six-speed CVT gearbox. On the other hand, the diesel unit churns out 170 bhp of power and a peak torque of 350 Nm. The motor is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox.
