A new battery-powered Hyundai Ioniq 5 N has just been unveiled by Hyundai's performance-focused N division. The Ioniq 5 N is based on the standard Ioniq 5, which won the World Auto Of The Year award in 2022, but the N interpretation is meant to show petrolheads that electric vehicles (EV) are also satisfying to drive. The Ioniq 5 N made its world debut at Goodwood Festival Of Speed in 2023, and it's likely to be the first N-badged Hyundai to arrive in India.

Compared to the standard model, the Ioniq 5 N is 20 mm lower, 50 mm wider( to accommodate wider tires) and 80 mm longer. The frontal cushion now houses a functional air curtain, reflections and inputs incorporated to prop cooling, along with a prominent lip spoiler. Also new to the Ioniq 5 N are lateral skirts, a sect-type hinder spoiler, and a pronounced diffuser. The Ioniq 5 N lifts on 21- inch forged aluminum bus, shod in 275/ 35R21 Pirelli P- Zero tires.

Powertrain is the most important feature of the Ioniq 5 N. It has a larger battery, 84 kWh, instead of the 72.6 kWh in the India-spec model. Also unique to this battery is the enhanced thermal operation system, with an increased cooling area, upgraded motor oil painting cooler, and battery bite, all erected- to give advanced resistance against heat- convinced power losses.

It is anticipated that Hyundai will bring the Ioniq 5 N to India as a halo model sometime in 2024. Still, as it's likely to be a full import, the Ioniq 5 N will be costly.
