Maruti Suzuki is planning to set up 1,500 EV-enabled service workshops across 1,000 cities in India. This is part of their bigger plan of having 8,000 total service touchpoints.
Maruti Suzuki is known for its low cost of ownership and reliable post-sales service for its ICE vehicles. They are actively trying to replicate this trust for their EV lineup.
The goal is to make EVs accessible, convenient, and appealing, ultimately aiming for the e-Vitara and future EVs to be the primary vehicle in Indian households. The brand's first EV, Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, is going to launch in September 2025 and is expected to start from Rs. 20 lacs (ex-showroom).
Why has Maruti Suzuki Planned this EV Workshop Rollout?
The company's decision to establish 1,500 EV-ready workshops across 1,000 cities is driven by several strategic reasons:
Addressing customer confidence & range anxiety: The company can directly address "range anxiety" by having widespread service points with readily available help and service.
Leveraging existing network strength: Maruti Suzuki boasts the largest sales and service network in India. Expanding and upgrading 1,500 of these to be EV-ready allows them to quickly establish a broad service footprint.
Skilled workforce development: Maruti Suzuki is investing in training programs to create a pool of over 4,100 trained technicians annually to handle EV systems.
Supporting the government's EV ambitions: This initiative aligns with the Government of India's push for carbon net-zero objectives and faster EV adoption.
