French automaker Citroen has started exporting its locally produced e-C3 electric vehicles from India to global markets. The auto giant has now become the first international manufacturer in the country to export made-in-India EVs to international markets. Citroen will first export e-C3 electric models to ASEAN countries.

The e-C3 was unveiled in India almost a year ago, and it has now become one of the most affordable electric vehicles in the domestic market. The company flagged off the first 500 units of the e-C3 from Kamarajar Port in Chennai before shipping them to Indonesia. The company also exports its C3 model to African and ASEAN markets.

Commenting on the recent development, the CEO and MD of Stellantis India, Aditya Jairaj, said, "India is not only a strategic market but also a major sourcing hub for vehicles, components, and mobility technologies within the Stellantis group. Commencing the export of the versatile 'Made-in-India Citroën ë-C3' electric vehicle to international customers is a proud validation of our engineering and development capabilities. We remain committed to growing in India and promoting sustainable mobility while showcasing India's manufacturing prowess on a global stage."

In the Indian market, the base model of the Citroen e-C3 comes at a starting price of INR 12.9 lakh and goes up to INR 13.50 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top model. The e-C3 four-wheeler hatchback offers an ARAI MIDC-certified range of 320 km with the help of 15 AMP home charging options and 100 percent DC fast charging. The EV comes in 13 exterior colors and 47 customization options. The Citroen e-C3 has two driving modes: Eco and Standard.

In March, Citroen announced that it would supply 4,000 units of its e-C3 electric vehicle to BluSmart Mobility, an electric ride-hailing startup, for 12 months. In March of this year, up to 125 Citroen e-C3s were flagged off from Bengaluru's BluSmart EV charging superhub.
