Volkswagen, a German automobile manufacturer, has reduced the prices of select trims of the Taigun compact SUV in India. The company has slashed the price of the SUV by up to INR 1 lakh this month. The Volkswagen Taigun is considered the safest sports utility vehicle in India, and it is now available at a starting price of INR 11 lakh and goes up to INR 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom). These new prices are only valid for a limited period. The auto giant offers the Taigun in 21 trims.

The company has not specified how long the Taigun SUV's revised price list will be in effect. However, the brand is expected to continue the new discount offers until the end of this month. According to the company’s official website, the entry-level variants of the Taigun SUV have received a discount of INR 70,000. The Comfortline variant is now priced at INR 11 lakh (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, which is mated to a manual gearbox.

Previously, the GT Line Chrome variant of the SUV was priced between INR 19.44 lakh and INR 19.74 lakh (ex-showroom). After the price revision, this mid-variant of the Taigun SUV is priced at INR 18.70 lakh (ex-showroom). The Taigun GT Line Chrome is powered by a 1.5-litre engine, which is paired with a DSG gearbox.

Volkswagen used to offer the top-spec GT Plus Edge variant in a price range of INR 19.70 lakh to INR 20 lakh (ex-showroom). Now this variant has received a discount of nearly INR 1.10 lakh and is available at a price of INR 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Volkswagen Taigun is powered by two engines: a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.0-litre TSI engine. The 1.5-litre turbo engine churns out power of 148 bhp and peak torque of 250 Nm, while the 1.0-litre unit produces 113 bhp of power and peak torque of 178 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed torque converter, a 6-speed manual gearbox, or a 7-speed DSG unit.
