Mercedes-Benz India has launched its sportier GLE AMG 53 Coupe in the Indian market on January 31, 2024. The auto giant earlier introduced the facelift version of the Mercedes-Benz GLE in India in 2023. The new car will only come in this AMG 53 variant. It is available at a starting price of INR 1.85 crore (ex-showroom, India). This makes the new Coupe about INR 14 lakh more costly than the outgoing version. It comes with new technological updates inside the cabin and better engine torque. The manufacturer says that it is providing a wide range of options for the AMG GLE Coupe, and that can increase the cost of the SUV up to INR 2.2 crore (ex-showroom).

The GLE 53 Coupe is loaded with a lot of standard features like a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, an adaptive air suspension, a head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats, blind spot monitoring, a Burmester 3D sound system, a wireless phone charger, 100W type-C charging outlets, temperature-controlled cup holders, active brake assist, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and more.

The Mercedes AMG GLE 53 is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol unit paired with a 48V mild hybrid system. This unit churns out 435 PS and 520 Nm of peak torque, and it is mated with a nine-speed automatic transmission that supplies power to all four wheels through the brand's 4Matic all-wheel drive system. The new GLE can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5 to 0.3 seconds, and the SUV can hit a high speed of 250 kmph.

Inside the cabin, the Mercedes GLE gets the same cabin layout as the current model, along with the dual displays located at the top of the dashboard. The most prominent feature offered is the new AMG steering wheel, which provides controls for essential functions. The new GLE Coupe’s styling is like that of the outgoing model. The shape of the grille has been tweaked a little, and the taillights and headlamps have new lighting elements. The bumpers equipped in the car get minor changes. It has a new alloy wheel design. The new car will get the brand’s latest MBUX software, new temperature-controlled cup holders for the seats at the front, and 100W Type C fast charging outlets at the front and back.
