Kia India announced a recall for 4,358 units of the famous Kia Seltos CVT. The automaker stated that it had to issue a voluntary recall due to a potential error that could affect the performance of the electronic oil pump in the car’s CVT gearbox. The recall applies to 4,358 units of the SUV that were constructed between February 28 and July 13, 2023. Customers are advised to contact their nearest Kia dealerships to book an appointment, or they can also contact the company’s call centre at 1800-108-5000.

The auto giant says that it has also informed the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) about the recall. The brand is reaching out to buyers and quickly replacing the faulty components equipped in the affected Seltos models. Affected units will be operated at Kia’s dealerships in India, and the auto giant will not charge any money from buyers.

In the Indian market, the Seltos SUV comes at a starting price of INR 10.90 lakh, and it goes up to INR 20.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The HTX variant of the Seltos is priced at INR 16.66 lakh (ex-showroom), and it is available with the CVT gearbox. The HTX is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that churns out 113 bhp of power and 144 Nm of peak torque.

This is not the first time the brand has recalled its models. Kia issued a recall for 30,297 units of the Carens MPV last year to fix an issue that occurred in the digital instrument cluster. The affected units were manufactured between September 2022 and February 2023. The manufacturer operated on the affected vehicle free of charge.
