  • Coronavirus: Hyundai Donates Rs 5 Crore Aid to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Relief Fund

India is reeling from Coronavirus outbreak with over 9000 individuals hospitalized and the death toll now crossing 300. Indian Government enforced nationwide lockdown to stop the transmission of virus with the infection rate slowing down compared to other countries. Apart from the government, Indian corporates have stepped up big time with regular assistance and benefits be it in term of monetary or manufacturing of crucial medical equipment like ventilators and protective masks. Hyundai Motor India had earlier ordered COVID-19 Advanced Diagnostic Testing Kits from South Korea to help the healthcare agencies in testing 25,000 citizens.

Continuing with their attempts to help the Indian government, the Korean automaker is providing monetary assistance in the fight against Coronavirus. Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has handed over a cheque for Rs 5 Crores to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Relief Fund in its fight against COVID-19. The cheque was handed over to Shri N Muruganandam IAS, Principal Secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu, Industries Department, by Hyundai officials.

“As a responsible and caring automobile brand, we stand united with the Government of Tamil Nadu to provide relentless support in these challenging times. This contribution is an expression of our solidarity with the people of the state which has been home for Hyundai for over two decades. In line with our Global Vision – ‘Progress for Humanity’, Hyundai is committed to undertaking all efforts that will help India overcome this crisis”, commented

SS Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd.

Aligned with its global vision “Progress for Humanity”, South Korean automaker has planned a series of initiatives to contribute to India’s fight against COVID-19. These would include monetary contributions to Relief Funds, importing advanced diagnostic kits from South Korea, fabrication of ventilators, other treatment support aids, distribution of PPEs, masks and other safety kits. They would also be distributing dry rations to the needy people.
