Bentley Motors has rolled out the 20,000th unit of Bentayga SUV from the Crewe facility since the start of production and customer deliveries in 2016. To commemorate this milestone, the British ultra-luxury automaker has released a short film which showcases the SUV delivering on its promise of power, performance and luxury. The multi-award-winning Bentley Bentayga was launched in 2016 and in these four years over 20,000 units of the SUV have been handcrafted by the skilled workforce at the company factory in Crewe.

It takes more than 100 hours for a Bentayga SUV on a dedicated production line, where a team of 230 craftspeople meticulously assemble every unit by hand. It has been introduced in five derivatives and four different powertrains options. The development programme for the Bentayga was the most exhaustive in the brand’s history, ranging across five continents. From the dirt and gravel of South Africa, the dunes of Dubai, the muddy fields of Cheshire, and from -30°C in the frozen North Cape to searing 50°C desert heat, it was tested to perform on any surface and even in the most extreme conditions. The Bentayga debuted Bentley Dynamic Ride, which is the world’s first electric active roll control technology that utilises an 48V system.

Customers can also personalise their Bentayga in line with their pastimes via Mulliner, which is Bentley’s bespoking and coachbuilding division. Under the hood, it has an all-new twin-turbocharged 6.0L W12 engine which develops a top power of 600bhp and peak torque of 900Nm. It does a 0-100kmph sprint in merely 4.1 seconds while clocking a top speed of 301kmph. The SUV can also be availed with a V8 engine which generates maximum power output of 542bhp and highest torque performance 770Nm while touching the 100kmph mark from standstill in just 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 290kmph. Bentley is planning to introduce a plug-in hybrid version of the SUV with an advanced electric motor combined with a powerful and efficient new-generation V6 petrol engine.
