The 2025 Padma Bhushan awardee and famous Tamil movie star, Ajith Kumar, has recently bought a McLaren Senna. This track-focused road car has a limited run of only 500 units worldwide, and his car comes with an iconic Marlboro livery with Ayrton Senna's autograph.
Ajith Kumar, fondly known as "Thala" by his fans, is a prominent Indian actor who mainly works in the Tamil film industry. He is also well-known for his passion for motorsports beyond his acting prowess.
The McLaren Senna is priced at approximately Rs. 12 crore (ex-showroom) in India, while its on-road price is closer to Rs. 20 crore. The actor also owns Ferrari SF90 Stradale, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and McLaren 750S.
What's special about the McLaren Senna?
The McLaren Senna is built to be the ultimate track-focused road car. It's named after the legendary Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna.
This road-legal car can generate up to 800 kg of downforce at 250 km/h (155 mph), which is typically seen in dedicated race cars. It's built around the Carbon Fibre Monocage III, which is McLaren's strongest and lightest monocoque ever used in a road-legal vehicle.
This car had McLaren's most powerful ICE at the time of its launch. It's 4.0-liter Twin-Turbo V8 Engine (M840TR) produces a staggering 789 bhp and 800 Nm of torque.
For the car racing buffs, this McLaren has an exceptional 668 PS per tonne of Power-to-Weight Ratio. It delivers savage acceleration of 0-100 kmph in 2.8 seconds and 0-200 kmph in just 6.8 seconds.
The car has the RaceActive Chassis Control II (RCC II), which is an advanced hydraulic suspension system that allows the car to be driven comfortably on the road.

Ajith Kumar's professional formula racing career
Ajith Kumar has had a notable career in motorsport, and he has actively participated in various championships. He began his racing career with motorcycles in the National Motorcycle Racing Championship in 1990.
He continued and progressed in racing for a few years and then paused it due to his film commitments. He had to leave the 2004 British Formula 3 season midway due to filming commitments, in which he achieved podium finishes (including a P3 at the iconic Donnington Park circuit).
Ajith Kumar has made a significant return to racing in 2025 with the 24H Series in the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup Category. He debuted with his own newly formed team, Ajith Kumar Racing (AKR).
He also received the "Spirit of the Race" recognition in the GT4 category.
