Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has started dispatching the new Honda NX500 mid-size adventure tourer motorcycle. Honda launched the NX500 in India last month at a price of INR 5.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The two-wheeler maker has now started deliveries of the motorcycle. In Honda’s lineup, the new motorcycle replaces the Honda CB500X, which was also available in the Indian market. The NX500 motorcycle is brought to the country through the CBU route.

The NX500 shares the same engine as the CB500X model. Honda unveiled the new motorcycle with a few cosmetic changes, new features, and a slightly lighter weight. The NX500 adventure tourer comes in three color options: Gunpowder Black, Grand Prix Red, and Pearl Horizon White. As a standard, the motorcycle gets Honda’s Selectable Torque Control, which is said to be the company’s traction control system.

Powering the Honda NX500 is the same 471 cc DOHC parallel-twin engine that churns out 46 bhp at 8,600 rpm and a peak torque of 43 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The gearbox on duty is a six-speed unit and it comes with a slip and assist clutch. The two-wheeler maker has also improved the bike’s fuel injection settings, which enhance power delivery and low-rpm acceleration across the entire rev range.

The Honda NX500 comes equipped with updated features like a 5-inch TFT instrument console along with Bluetooth connectivity, traction control, switchable dual-channel ABS, and full LED lighting.

HMSI has revived the NX series of dual-sport bikes with the NX500. The dual-sport motorcycles come with a mix of on-road and off-road capabilities. One of the most famous models of the company’s NX series, the Honda NX650 Dominator, is a single-cylinder twin-sport bike that was manufactured between 1988 and 2003.

The NX500 now comes with updated suspension, new bodywork, and lighter wheels. The overall weight of the bike has been reduced to 3 kg, with a kerb weight of 196 kg. The NX500 motorcycle gets new Y-shaped 5-spoke cast wheels (19-inch in the front and 17-inch at the rear). Suspension duties are done by the same Showa 41 mm SFFBP (Separate Function Fork Big Piston) and preload-adjustable rear shock. The bike has a seat height of 830 mm and a wheelbase of 1445 mm.
