India Yamaha Motor Private Limited is a completely owned subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Company with a joint investor in Mitsur & Co. Ltd. Yamaha first entered the Indian market in the year 1985 when it collaborated with Escorts Group. 15 years later in 2001, the manufacturer became a 100% subsidiary of its parent company. 7 years later in 2009, Mitsur & Co. entered into an agreement which led to a joint-venture between the two companies.
