Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has rolled out its first electric car, the SU7. The tech marque revealed the cost of the SU7 EV at an event held on March 28, 2024. The Xiaomi SU7 is all set to rival famous EV makers like Tesla and BYD. The EV promises enhanced performance and a tech-packed cabin loaded with advanced features.

The SU7 electric car is available at an introductory price of 215,900 yuan (around INR 24.90 lakh). Xiaomi has unveiled its first car at a competitively reasonable price as compared to the Tesla Model 3. The Chinese company will commence deliveries of the SU7 EV this month. The EV maker has already showcased the EV at several dealerships in China to attract potential customers. Earlier this year, for the first time, the tech company revealed the SU7, which is short for Speed Ultra, at the Mobile World Congress.

The SU7 electric vehicle is a 4-door electric sedan, and it comes in four variants: Pro, Max, Limited Founders Edition, and an entry-level version. The electric sedan stands at 1,455 mm in height, 1,963 mm in width, and 4,997 mm in length. The EV has a wheelbase of 3,000 mm, and it rolls on 19-inch Michelin alloy wheels.

The top-tier Max version of the EV has a maximum speed of 265 kmph. It can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.78 seconds. The car has a certified range of 810 km on one charge. Even in the priciest electric automobiles, the combined performance attributes are uncommon. In addition, the limited Founders Edition comes with a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive powertrain, and it can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 1.98 seconds.

The EV will come equipped with two battery sizes from CATL. The entry-level version will house a 73.6-kWh battery set. The top-tier model comes with a bigger 101-kWh battery pack. According to the tech giant, the batteries will provide a range of at least 700 kilometers on a single charge. The company is also anticipated to introduce a larger 150 kWh battery set with a 1,200 km range.

The SU7 electric sedan can also support ultra-fast charging. The company claims that with only fifteen minutes of charging time, the EV's 486V architecture can recharge it sufficiently to cover 350 kilometers. Moreover, it has a larger 871V architecture that enables the EV to recharge enough to go up to 510 kilometers on a single charge.
