Volkswagen India has unveiled the Taigun and Virtus Sound Edition in the Indian market. These new edition models will be available for buyers in limited numbers.

Volkswagen Taigun Sound Edition

The Taigun is considered the safest SUV in the compact SUV segment in India. The automaker sold 2,200+ units of Taigun the previous month, with an outstanding 39% MoM growth. Volkswagen recently unveiled the GT Edge Trail Edition in the country with an introductory price of INR 16.3 lakh (ex-showroom). Now the company is expanding its special edition models with the Taigun Sound Edition. The Topline MT version of the Taigun edition is priced at INR 16.33 lakh, and the Topline AT version is available at a price of INR 17.90 lakh (ex-showroom). 

The Taigun Sound Edition is based on the Topline Trim. This car will be available in limited numbers. There are four color options available in the Taigun: Lava Red, Wild Cherry Red, Rising Blue, and Carbon Steel Grey. The contrasting white roof and outside rearview mirrors in the new Taigun look more appealing than the black roof. The topline version gets a seven-speaker setup along with an amplifier and subwoofer. The Sound Edition gets cosmetic changes like graphics and ‘Sound Edition’ badging on the C-pillar.

Volkswagen Virtus Sound Edition

Just like the new Taigun, the Virtus Sound Edition will also be sold in limited numbers. It is also based on Topline Trim, and it gets the same interior updates as the Taigun, such as electrically adjusted front seats and a seven-speaker music system that involves an amplifier and subwoofer. The Virtus also gets special cosmetic changes like graphics and ‘Sound Edition’ badging on the C-pillar. The new sedan will be available in different color schemes, such as Lava Red, Wild Cherry Red, Rising Blue, and Carbon Steel Grey. This sedan will also come with a contrasting white roof and outside rearview mirrors. For the manual gearbox, the Virtus Sound Edition is priced at INR 15.51 lakh, and the AT variant is priced at INR 16.77 lakh (ex-showroom).

Both the Sound Editions will be powered by a 1.0-litre TSI engine. The unit has three cylinders that are turbocharged. It churns out 114 bhp of maximum power and 178 Nm of peak torque, and it comes paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The Taigun and Virtus Sound Edition also come with a 1.5-litre TSI engine, and it churns out 148 bhp of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque. It comes paired with a six-speed gearbox or a seven-speed double-clutch automatic transmission. The engine also has Active Cylinder Technology to enhance fuel efficiency.
