Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEM) has teamed up with Shell India Markets Private Limited (SIMPL) to set up EV charging stations across India. The automotive manufacturer inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shell, a British oil and gas company, to provide superior EV charging experiences to its customers.

Apart from third-party EV charging networks, Tata Motors EV owners currently utilize the brand’s Tata Power electric vehicle chargers. The partnership will leverage Shell’s extensive fuel station network and Tata’s knowledge of more than 1.4 lakh Tata EVs on Indian roads to install chargers at sites where Tata EV customers commonly visit.

The precise number of Tata-Shell EV chargers slated for India has not been disclosed by the auto giant. The new electric vehicle charging stations will be installed at Shell's fuel stations, and they will add to the nation’s growing EV charging network. As of now, Tata Power owns more than 8,000 EV charging infrastructures across the country. As per the Ministry of Power, India currently has 12,146 public electric vehicle charging stations.
