Nissan India will launch the all-new Magnite sub-compact SUV in August 2020, claims a new report from AutoCar India. While earlier it was scheduled to launch around May-June, now it has been pushed by a couple of months to August in order to capitalize on the festive season. Nissan Magnite price is expected to start around Rs 5.25 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) while the petrol automatic (CVT) variant could also be priced below Rs 6 Lakhs. The all-new SUV from the Japanese automaker will be the most affordable in the sub 4-meter SUV segment.

As far as styling is concerned, Nissan Magnite will get a crossover like stance with bulky wheel arches. The headlamp as well as the tail-lamp cluster will have LED units while it will also be offered in dual-tone paint schemes. The SUV will ride on premium alloy wheels with several advanced and up-market features. The company is expected to equip it with a first-in-segment 360-degree parking camera. There are speculations that Nissan might even include the huge touchscreen infotainment system from Kicks crossover with connected-car technology in the Magnite. Some of the other exquisite features will be auto climate control, steering-mounted audio and phone controls etc. to name.

Mechanically, Nissan Magnite will be available with two petrol engine options. The base and mid variants will be powered by a BS6 compliant 1.0L 3-cylinder BR10 petrol engine which will develop top power of 72bhp and peak torque of 96Nm while mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The AMT gearbox might be introduced at a later stage. On the other hand, the range-topping variants will draw power from a new 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged HR10 petrol engine which will generate maximum power output of 95bhp. This engine will be linked with a 5-speed manual unit as standard while debuting a first-in-segment CVT gearbox as optional. Currently, the most affordable subcompact SUV in India is Hyundai Venue which starts at Rs 6.70 Lakhs.
