Nissan Motor India has been one of the key automobile players in the Indian market for years. The brand is now working on updating its popular models to expand its business in India. In the coming years, Nissan will roll out many new models, out of which one of the most significant launches is going to be the updated Nissan Magnite, which is scheduled to be launched on October 4, 2024.

This is going to be the first significant update for the SUV ever since its first arrival in India. The Japanese auto giant first launched the Magnite as a subcompact SUV back in 2020. The outgoing Magnite subcompact SUV is currently priced at INR 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted version of the Magnite is expected to be priced a bit higher than the current model. Nissan recently launched the X-Trail SUV in the Indian market as a CBU model on August 1, 2024.

The company has been testing the facelifted version of the Nissan Magnite in India for months. However, the test mules were heavily camouflaged, and only a few exterior details were revealed, including new alloy wheels, a restyled front grille, and front and rear bumpers.

The upcoming Nissan Magnite is expected to come equipped with the same interior as the current model. It is likely to feature a digital instrument cluster with new graphics and a bigger touchscreen infotainment. Other features could be an advanced PM2.5 air filter, auto-dimming IRVM, rear AC vents, puddle lamp, wireless smartphone charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a JBL audio system, keyless entry, and ambient lighting.

On the safety front, the sub-4-metre crossover is likely to house six airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, hill start assist, a 360-degree camera, vehicle dynamic control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and a traction control system.

Under the hood, the Nissan Magnite facelift will draw power from 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.0-litre NA petrol engines. The turbo-petrol engine churns out a power of 99 bhp and a peak torque of 160 Nm. On the contrary, the 1.0-litre NA petrol unit can generate a maximum power of 71 bhp and a peak torque of 96 Nm. Both units are mated to a five-speed gearbox as standard and an AMT.

After its official launch in the Indian market, the Nissan Magnite facelift will rival the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Fronx, Toyota Taisor, Hyundai Exter, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Renault Kiger, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Punch, and Citroen Basalt.
