Lectrix EV, the SAR Group's electric mobility division, has launched the new E2W high-speed electric scooter in the Indian market. The E2W is available at a price of INR 49,999 (ex-showroom). The most innovative scheme that is being offered with the new scooter is the battery-as-a-service (BaaS) program. Lectrix has now become the first OEM in India to provide the battery as a service to its customers.

The brand has modified the traditional ownership model by giving buyers the choice to subscribe to the battery separately, therefore providing cost-effectiveness and increased flexibility. This move aligns with the government's vision to accelerate EV adoption in India. Buyers will now have to pay for the battery services on a subscription basis.

The President of EV Business at Lectrix EV, Pritesh Talwar, said that the new concept is transformative, and by delinking the battery cost from the scooter and offering it as a service, the overall EV experience becomes more affordable for users. He highlighted that the company has solved two major obstacles to electric adoption in India, which are concerns about battery lifespan and high prices.

Comparing the cost of the brand’s electric scooter with conventional ICE vehicles, Pritesh Talwar further added, “The upfront cost of purchasing an ICE vehicle amounts to ₹1 lakh, which is double the cost of our offering. Additionally, the monthly investment on petrol is on the rise, and this combined with the maintenance cost of an ICE vehicle, is making our subscription plan more economical."

Lectrix EV claims that buyers can save nearly 40 percent by subscribing to the battery-as-a-service program. The latest electric scooter has a certified range of 100 km in one charge. The E2W comes with a lifetime battery warranty and has a high speed of around 50 kmph.

The new scooter follows the launch of Lectrix’s LXS 2.0 electric scooter in India. The 2.0 version was launched in India in February 2024. The e-scooter is equipped with a unique 2.3 kWh battery set and provides a range of 98 km per charge. The LXS 2.0 electric scooter comes at a price of INR 79,999 (ex-showroom). According to the brand, the new scooter addresses three primary needs of customers: quality, range, and value. The scooter comes with an anti-theft system, an emergency SOS, and doorstep service.

With the LXS 2.0 electric scooter, the company is aiming to target first-time buyers. The brand is also offering a 3-year/30,000km warranty on the e-scooter. As of now, more than 10,000 units of the brand’s e-scooters are being used by customers across India.
