The unique technology will standardize the electronic vehicles based on Indian drive-cycles.

  • IIT Guwahati Develops Technology to Standardise EVs

The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has developed a unique technology that will rate the motor and batteries of electric vehicles. Post this, the institute will suggest to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) the best drivetrain components for the Indian scenarios. Furthermore, this method helps to standardize the EVs based on the Indian drive-cycles. 


A team of researchers from the Electric Mobility Laboratory of IIT Guwahati led by Prof. Praveen Kumar, Professor, Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, IIT Guwahati, specifically focused on Indian climatic conditions for both rural and urban areas. The drive cycles developed by them are not only unique but also not available anywhere else.
