After 30 years, Ducati has finally dropped the veil from its first-ever motorbike equipped with a production-spec single-cylinder engine. Ducati has globally unveiled the Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono which is powered by none other than their newly launched Superquadro Mono engine. This single-cylinder rowdy looking bike break covers in two variants- base and premium RVE variant. And it is expected that this Hypermotard 698 Mono will be launched in the Indian market earliest by next year. The Hypermotard 698 Mono looks similar to the brand's other motorcycle, the Hypermotard 950 range. With an aggressive and bold design, the supermotard has grippy sportbike-style tyres and an ADV-like body.

Half of the 659 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine from the Superquadro V-Twin that was available for the Panigale 1299 is the 698 Mono. It has a desmodromic head that produces a maximum torque of 63 Nm at 8,000 rpm and a peak power output of 76.43 bhp at 9,750 rpm. The most potent single-cylinder engine available for production right now is the Superquadro mono. Naturally, Ducati had to be the choice. With a slip assist clutch, a 6-speed gearbox provides power to the back wheel.

The motorbike is equipped with a steel trellis structure that supports the engine, cast alloy wheels, and Marzocchi suspension to manage weight. The aluminum flange discs, which are up to 17% lighter than standard discs, aid in that. A 330 mm unit with a radial pump, Brembo M4.32 calliper, and adjustable lever is located up front. A 245 mm disc with a single-piston floating calliper is located at the back. The bike has a fully adjustable 45 mm Aluminum USD up front. A fully adjustable Sachs monoshock is located at the back. Tyres from Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV are used on both the front and rear wheels.

The all-new Ducati single has four riding modes: Sport, Urban, Road, and Wet. It also has a 3.8-inch LCD display with enhanced black nematic technology, ride-by-wire, and Bosch cornering ABS. Traction control, engine brake control, and wheelie control are examples of electronic rider aids. While it is optional on the base version, the bi-directional quick-shifter is equipped on the RVE variant. The color schemes and the black frame are the other distinctions between the two.

A voluntary track-only Termignoni exhaust is available, increasing power to 83 bhp and activating the wheelie assist feature, which enables the rider to perform extended wheelies. Heated grips, a Ducati multimedia system, and an anti-theft system are additional optional extras.

In the USA, the Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono costs $12,995, while the RVE variant costs $14,995. These prices roughly translate to Rs. 10.82 lakh and Rs. 12.48 lakh, respectively. This is a high asking price for a single-cylinder motorbikes.
