Kia India has unveiled four new entry- and mid-level variants of its famous Kia Sonet subcompact SUV. These newly launched HTE (O) and HTK (O) trims come with petrol G1.2 and diesel 1.5 CRDi VGT engines. The price of HTE (O) and HTK (O) trims starts at INR 8.19 lakh (ex-showroom). The new variants are around INR 19,000 more expensive than the entry-level trim of the subcompact SUV.

The automaker has added new features to the newly introduced variants to provide more comfort to its customers. For instance, the sunroof has become one of the most famous features in cars, and it has grown in popularity among Indian automobile buyers over time. The modest sunroof, once exclusive to high-end and luxury models, is now available in vehicles sold in mass markets. Kia India has also added this feature to its new models.

The Kia HTE (O) and HTK (O) variants will be powered by both the 1.5 CRDi diesel unit and the 1.2-litre petrol engine. The diesel powertrain churns out power of 114 bhp and peak torque of 250 Nm. It is paired with three gearboxes: a six-speed iMT, a six-speed manual, and a six-speed automatic unit. On the other hand, the petrol engine churns out power of 81 bhp and peak torque of 115 Nm. The unit is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The South Korean auto giant is offering the HTK(O) variant with new features like a sunroof, LED-connected taillamps, rear defogger, and Fully Automatic Temperature Control (FATC) over the features of the current HTK variant, while the HTE(O) gains a sunroof over the existing HTE variant.

Kia has also updated the feature list on trims like the Kia HTX+ and GTX+. These existing variants now come equipped with all-window up/down safety. The HTK and HTE variants now feature more color options for the exterior, including Imperial Blue, Aurora Black Pearl, and Pewter Olive.

In the Indian market, the Kia Sonet SUV comes at a starting price of INR 8 lakh, and for the top-notch X-Line variant, it goes up to INR 15.75 lakh (ex-showroom). The X-Line variant is powered by both a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and diesel powertrains. The Sonet rivals the likes of the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Mahindra XUV300.
