Audi recently unveiled a diesel powered SQ5 for the European market. Earlier, the SQ5 was available only with the option of a petrol engine. The diesel powered SQ5 will cater to customers who want to keep their fuel bills stringent while still enjoying high performance from their car.

The new Audi SQ5 is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 TDI mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission. It also features a mild-hybrid system and an electric powered compressor (EPC) that was first introduced in the SQ7 TDI, it makes torque available immediately, with no turbo lag, while also keeping revs low and improving fuel consumption. This setup produces 347 PS of peak power and 700 Nm of torque. While Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drives system is permanent, the self-locking center differential can distribute up to 85 percent of the output to the rear axle, or up to 70 percent to the front, but under normal driving conditions, it has a 40:60 front-to-rear ratio.

The new SQ5 Diesel has a five-link suspension at the front and rear, and can be ordered with the optional sport differential for the rear axle, which actively distributes the torque between the rear wheels during dynamic cornering. Other optional extras include Dynamic steering, 21-inch wheels over 20″ standard wheels, several driving assistance items and technology features.

For the exterior, the sport SUV has revised bumpers, a grille with double aluminum slats and contrasting trim elements, and S logos on the outside. It also gets standard LED front and rear lights, dynamic turn signals and an exclusive color called Panther Black. The interior of the car gets a dark-tone look and adds the exclusive S logos, illuminated door sills, leather and Alcantara sports seats with contrast stitching, stainless steel pedals, aluminum-look for the paddle shifters, brushed aluminum inlays and others. Customers can also pay up some extra money to get Nappa leather seats with rhombus pattern, wood applications or carbon inlay.

The new Audi SQ5 TDI will be able for purchase throughout Europe starting this summer. Audi will command a base price of €67,750 in Germany for the sport SUV.
