Yamaha XSR 125 has been launched in the European market. Being based on the same architecture as Yamaha MT-125 and R125, it is least likely to be launched in the Indian market. The Japanese brand has different plans for India as it is developing an all-new bike on the FZ FI platform which would be christened as Yamaha FZ-X. Yamaha XSR 125 could be pose a great threat to KTM Duke 125 in the Indian market if it is locally manufactured and it undercuts the Duke 125 by several thousands in terms of pricing.

Coming back to Yamaha XSR 125, it is the brand's latest motorcycle in the 125cc segment in Europe. The designing cues have been taken from the bigger bikes in the XSR family such as XSR 900, XSR 700 and XSR 155. The front end flaunts the traditional circular LED headlamp in order to compliment its retro look. Other styling elements include a rounded fuel tank, aluminium brackets and LED tail-lamp cluster. As for features, the XSR 125 gets a round LCD instrument cluster, block pattern tyres and exhaust heat shield. It comes with Yamaha’s ‘Deltabox’ frame with 37mm USD forks upfront. The weight of the bike stands at 140kgs. Though, a few updates have been made to the chassis which is sourced from R125.

Yamaha XSR 125 is powered by a 124cc single-cylinder liquid cooled petrol engine which has been borrowed from the R125. It develops top power of 15bhp at 10000rpm and highest torque of 11.5Nm at 8000rpm. The engine is linked to a 6-speed gearbox. The auto enthusiasts in India have been waiting for the elder sibling of XSR 125, which is the XSR 155, to launch in the country as it is also sold in several other Asian markets. But, Yamaha has not launched it yet in India as it focusing on the FZ range in the country. As we said earlier, if launched in India, Yamaha XSR 125 will directly compete with KTM Duke 125 which is the second best seller motorcycle in the company's portfolio in the country.
