Today’s Indian consumers are more aware and always like to be spoiled for choices when it comes to picking their dream automobile. Bajaj Chetak Scooter is the defining memory of Indians while growing up but not anymore with the arrival of trendy Maxi-Scooters on Indian shores.  Maxi Scooter is a variety of scooters that are fueled by more powerful engines as compared to the regular ones. It appeals to Indian users who prefer long-distance commuting because of features like comfortable seats, big fuel tank capacity, and decent storage space. Auto Expo 2020 held from the 5th to 12th of February 2020 played host to a series of maxi-scooter unveilings and we will be seeing a wave of these modern scooters plying on our roads really soon.

Here is a list of Maxi-Scooters coming our way in 2020.


Aprilia SXR 160


Aprilla SXR 160 was recently showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 and won the Best Auto Expo 2020 two-wheeler award. Pre-booking will open in August this year while deliveries are expected to take place from 3rd Quarter onwards. Aprilla SXR 160 is a feature-rich maxi-scooter with a flat footboard, LED lights, multi-function digital display, Anti-Lock Braking System and 5-spoke alloy wheel rims. It will be available with both 160cc and a 125cc engines that would feature 3V Tech FI Engine technology. Both these powertrains are BSVI compliant. Aprilia SXR 160 will come in four colours - red, blue, white and black. Pricing isn’t disclosed by Aprilia as of now.


Honda Forza 300


Honda Forza 300 is the first entrant from Honda Two Wheelers in the Maxi-Scooter segment with the launch date still far away but we can expect its arrival in 2020. It is powered by a 279cc, liquid-cooled engine while fuel-injected SOHC motor is a four-valve four-stroke unit generating maximum power of 24.8 bhp and 27.2 Nm of torque. The Forza 300 comes equipped with CVT automatic transmission, an automatic centrifugal clutch and a V-Belt.


22Kymco X-Town 300i ABS


22KYMCO X-Town 300i ABS is a sportier maxi-scooter that provides extra comfort for the rider and pillion. With an updated exterior design, KYMCO added a unique "X" shaped taillight to the X-Town 300i ABS. KYMCO has reworked on the storage space which can now fit up to two full-face helmets. It comes fitted with a 276cc single-cylinder generating a maximum power output of 24bhp and 25Nm of peak torque along with a CVT gearbox. It is expected to be priced at Rs 2.30 Lakhs (On-Road, Delhi) and deliveries are said to begin by September 2020.
