Scooters make moving around a city quite fun, what with the lack of changing gears or their manoeuvrability through narrow gaps, the general ease of riding one and also the sleek style statements they can make. Today, scooter sales have gone through the roof and more and more manufacturers are concentrating their efforts on this space like never before. Here’s a list of some of the stand out scooters from Auto Expo 2018.

Suzuki Burgman Street

Notably, the ‘Burgman’ moniker, internationally, is used for Suzuki’s top of the line scooter offerings which also includes a 600cc variant. This one has been specially designed for the Indian market and is based on the Suzuki Access 125 scooter. The Burgman Street gets maxi-scooter styling, which helps it really stand out from its competition. There's a large front apron which comes fitted with LED headlamps and full-digital console. Other interesting features include a12V charging socket, a multi-function key slot and an LED tail lamp. The Burgman Street is most likely to command a premium of around Rs 7000-8000 over its sibling the Suzuki Access.

Honda Activa 5G

The Activa revived India’s flailing scooter market when it was launched by Honda. The rest as they say is history and now the Japanese manufacturer has revealed the fifth generation of India’s best-selling two-wheeler. Called the Activa 5G, Honda has added new features like an all LED-headlamp, chrome styling inserts, a tougher metal muffler protector, a digi-analogue instrument cluster with ECO and service-due indicators. It will also come with a new Deluxe variant. While pricing has not been revealed yet, expect Honda to charge a slight premium over the current model.

Aprilia SR 125

In a bid to broaden the reach of its popular SR range of scooters, Aprilia has launched a smaller, less-expensive and more economical version called the SR 125. Its 125cc motor is 25cc lesser than its bigger sibling and will make 9.5hp and 9.9Nm of torque. Otherwise the SR125 remains identical except for a new digi-analogue instrument cluster that will also debut on the 2018 version of the SR150. Its  available in two colours Matte Silver and Gloss Blue at a price point of Rs 65,310 (ex-showroom, Pune).

Hero Maestro 125

The 125cc scooter segment is growing as buyers seem to want just that additional bit of power without sacrificing too much on fuel efficiency. With an eye on this pie Hero has revealed two new scooters, the Maestro Edge 125 and the Duet 125 and is trying to target different sets of buyers with each of them. The Maestro Edge gets sportier styling and is targeted at a younger audience whereas the Duet is more restrained in its design and is aimed at the more mature scooter buyer. Both of them use the same 125cc motor that makes 8.7hp and 10.2Nm of torque. Equipment wise they get i3S (idle-start-stop tech) that, LED tail-lights, external fuel-filling, digi-analogue instrumentation and service indicators.
