Suzuki has announced that it will be launching an all-new entry-level trim christened as ‘Jimny Lite’. The new trim will be first launched in Australia. Being an entry-level variant, it will not come with a long feature list. However, Suzuki will replace the alloy wheels with new 15-inch steel rims. Besides these, the SUV might get changes in terms of plastic textured ORVM covers and halogen projector headlamps. The fog lamps might also be removed. Moving inside the cabin of the new Jimny variant, we can expect a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit to replace the basic radio/CD player. The rest of the features might remain unchanged.

Under the bonnet, the Japanese automaker might not make any changes. The new suzuki Jimny Lite will continue to be powered by the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that churns out a maximum power of 100 bhp and a peak torque of 130 Nm. The 4-cylinder motor will include a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. However, a 4-speed automatic gearbox will not be available with this particular variant. In case, if the customer wants an automatic gearbox on the Jimny then he will have to opt for a higher variant.

The new Jimny Lite variant will be produced in Japan and then will be imported to Australia. As for the India launch, details are still not clear. At present, the japanese automaker is working on a long-wheelbase version of Jimny. The 5-door model is expected to make its global debut in 2022. It will further be launched in the Indian market as well.
