Japanese automaker Yamaha has launched the Moto GP version of their YZF-R15 V3.0, FZ 25 and Cygnus Ray ZR in the Indian market. The prices for the Moto GP version of the vehicles are R15 V3 (Rs.1.42 lakhs, ex-showroom), FZ 25 (Rs. 1.36 lakhs, ex-showroom), and Cygnus Ray ZR (Rs. 59,028, ex-showroom). The price hike for R15 and FZ25 for the Moto GP version is Rs. 2,500 and the same price hike for Cygnus Ray ZR Moto GP version is Rs. 1,500.
The Japanese maker had also launched the Moto GP version of the R15 V3 last year, but this time around the change in the sponsor of the Moto GP team of Yamaha is visible in the Moto GP version of all these models as well. The new Moto GP version of these two-wheelers prominently feature the Monster Energy livery of the new sponsor of the team. The forks of the new version get a Yamaha Motor logo, Yamaha racing speed black logo and the slogan of the brand. The new stickers and branding can be seen on the fairing, tank and side and under panels of these models. The company is also offering a free ‘racing branded’ T-shirt for the extra price one will pay for these limited-edition models.
Apart from the new paint and deals, there is nothing different about the Moto GP versions of these two-wheelers. The R15 V3 Moto GP version still comes with a segment leading 155 cc petrol engine rated to deliver 18.7 Bhp and 15 Nm. The engine comes with a slipper clutch as standard and the transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox. The R15 V3 is one of the most powerful bikes in its segment and comes with Variable Valve Actuation technology that helps increase the mileage of the bike when it is being ridden in city environment at moderate speeds, but it also boosts the performance when the bike is put through paces.
Meanwhile, the Yamaha Cygnus Ray ZR Moto GP version also comes with the 113cc engine of the standard model. This engine is rated to deliver 7.1 Bhp and 8.1 Nm and the scooter comes with a CVT automatic gearbox for ease of riding in urban environments. On the other hand, there is no mechanical change in the Yamaha FZ25 as well and it still is powered by the 249-cc oil and air-cooled engine rated to deliver 20.4 Bhp and 20 Nm. This engine comes with a 5-speed manual transmission.
