Mahindra & Mahindra has been working on the BS6 versions of the XUV500 and Scorpio for the past few months. Recently, the company listed both the Scorpio and XUV500 on its official website. Styling cues of BS6 Mahindra XUV500 have been borrowed from Mahindra Funster Concept. While the Next-Generation Mahindra Scorpio shares quite a few design elements with that of the outgoing version.

BS6 Mahindra XUV500 vs BS6 Mahindra Scorpio 2020: Price in India

BS6 Mahindra XUV500 is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 13 Lakhs - Rs 19 Lakhs (ex-showroom). While BS6 Mahindra Scorpio's  expected priced is to come in the range of Rs 12 Lakhs - Rs 18 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

The BS6 Mahindra XUV500 will be offered in 4 variants namely W5, W7, W9, and W11 (O). The company will be discontinuing the entry-level W3 trim. Meanwhile the BS6 Mahindra Scorpio will be offered in 4 trims - S5, S7, S9, and S11. 


BS6 Mahindra XUV500 vs BS6 Mahindra Scorpio 2020: Exterior Design

Cosmetically, the BS6 Mahindra XUV500 is expected to get a grille that looks identical to the one offered on the XUV300 subcompact SUV. It will also feature the all-new LED projector headlamp and signature DRLs vertically placed, similar to the one present on Mahindra XUV300. The front design of XUV500 resembles that of XUV300. It will receive flush-fitting door handles. The top-spec model could also receive the power-operated, pop-out function similar to the latest Range Rovers and new Teslas. The rear-end is expected to get LED taillamps, roof-integrated spoiler, and a dual-tone bumper. 


The BS6 Mahindra Scorpio, on the other hand, will be underpinned by a freshly updated ladder-frame chassis for the first time. It is likely to get new body panels and the design will sport the upright silhouette that has defined the SUV since it was first launched in 2002. The new-generation Scorpio is also expected to get vertically placed LED DRLs on the face of the SUV like the XUV300. The rear end should get a side-hinged door with vertical tail-lights.  

 

BS6 Mahindra XUV500 vs BS6 Mahindra Scorpio 2020: Interior Features

The interior of Mahindra XUV500 is likely to get a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, dual-zone automatic climate control, an all-new digital instrument console, and a panoramic sunroof. Other key features will include reclining second-row of seats, telematics functions and a multi-functional steering wheel.


While the cabin of BS6 Mahindra Scorpio will boast of a fresh dashboard design dominated by a large touchscreen infotainment system. The SUV is expected to share a lot of equipment with Mahindra Marazzo such as a multi-function steering wheel and other connectivity features. Like the XUV300, BS6 Scorpio could offer bits like dual-zone aircon and a panoramic sunroof. It will discontinue the side-facing rear third-row of seats in order to meet the latest safety norms.

 

BS6 Mahindra XUV500 vs BS6 Mahindra Scorpio 2020: Engine Specifications

Mechanically, the BS6 Mahindra XUV500 will be powered by the same 2.2litre 4-cylinder diesel engine having a maximum power output of 153bhp @ 3750rpm and peak torque of 360Nm between 1750-2800rpm. It can be availed with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission with the power transmitted to its front wheels.


While the BS6 Mahindra Scorpio draws power from the same 2.2litre 4-cylinder diesel engine which generates an output of 140bhp @ 3750rpm and highest torque performance of 320Nm between 1500-2800rpm. The base S5 variant would be offered with a 5-speed manual unit while the remaining three variants should be available with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.
