Jaguar Land Rover India has launched the 2021 Discovery 7-seater SUV at a starting price of Rs 88.06 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India) in the country. It will be available with a couple of petrol and one diesel engine choices. The 2021 Land Rover Discovery comes with cosmetic updates at the outside while equipped with latest features inside the cabin. Being retailed as Completely Built Up (CBU) unit, the 2021 Discovery doesn't have a direct rival in the Indian market as Toyota Land Cruiser Prado was discontinued last year.
As for styling, the 2021 Land Rover Discovery retains a few elements from its predecessor in the form of clamshell bonnet, the stepped roof and the highly visible C-pillar. However, it flaunts new signature LED headlights with daytime running lights (DRLs) and animated sweeping front and rear indicators. The front bumper has also been restyled which now comes with wider body-coloured graphic and new side vents. The rear end boasts of new signature LED tail-lights which are flanked by a new Gloss Black panel and tweaked bumper. The SUV also features Land Rover’s new second-generation Activity Key which comprises of touchscreen controls, a digital watch and can lock, unlock and start the vehicle as an addition to the conventional fob.
The primary highlights of the cabin is the 11.4-inch Pivi Pro full HD touchscreen infotainment system with Software-Over-The-Air updates. Land Rover’s SOTA technology allows owners to update as many as 44 individual electronic modules, without the inconvenience of visiting a retailer. In addition, there is a 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display which comes with high-definition 3D mapping within the instrumentation. The high-resolution digital instruments can be configured to show a pair of conventional dials, full-screen 3D navigation guidance or a combination of the two. The British luxury brand has also introduced a new cabin air ionisation feature with PM 2.5 air filter in the SUV. It also debuts a new Wade Mode which optimizes the vehicle for deep water fording.
Some of the other notable features include Click and Go tablet holders at the front seatbacks, USB-A charging sockets, Terrain Response 2, Hands-free Gesture Tailgate, Powered Inner Tailgate, Intelligent Seat Fold technology and Remote app technology. The second-row seats have been redesigned with improved lateral support, longer thicker cushions and careful seat profiling. Mechanically, it is available with a 2.0L 4-cylinder P300 Ingenium petrol engine which generates top power of 296 bhp and peak torque of 400Nm. The diesel variants draw power from a 3.0L 6-cylinder D300 Ingenium engine which dishes out 355 bhp and 500 Nm. The petrol variants also come with a 3.0L 6-cylinder P360 Ingenium engine with maximum power of 296 bhp and highest torque of 650 Nm. The new Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system comes as standard.
